Cuban Ministry of Tourism clarifies doubts regarding electronic visas for Canadian travelers on direct flights to Cuba

The Cuban Ministry of Tourism has issued a clarification for Canadians planning to travel to Cuba on direct flights. According to the information shared on its official Facebook page, passengers traveling directly from Canada to the island need not worry about the visa, as it is included in the cost of their ticket.

Travelers need only complete a form on the official website www.dviajeros.mitrans.gob.cu at least one week prior to their arrival. Once completed, they will receive a QR code that must be presented upon boarding. This process is completely free of charge; no credit card information or payment of any kind will be required.

It is important to note that the above website is the official website for this process. Travelers have been warned about the existence of non-governmental pages with different URLs, which may cause confusion.

For anyone traveling to Cuba through a third country, the electronic visa must be obtained beforehand at www.evisacuba.cu which will provide a 10-character code to be entered when filling out the form at www.dviajeros.mitrans.gob.cu.
